Before and After: Neon Green and Vivid Blue

Amanda: Before and After

Here is Amanda wearing shirts in fluorescent green and a shiny blue.
Before: Face Washed Out
The green is NOT on her list of best colors. Look at her cheeks in the two pictures. When she wears green, her skin loses its warm color. It's pale and washed out and looks an unhealthy yellow  (called sallow).
After: Healthy color in her face
With the blue shirt, her skin looks more alive and healthy. Her eyes brighten in the blue as well.

As you decide on what colors are best for you, analyze how a color adds either a healthy glow, or a washed out paleness. Your best colors make your skin glow.

Before and After: Cool Taupe and Hot Pink

Tabitha: Before and After

This is Tabitha dressed in cool taupe and hot pink. You can see a difference in the vibrancy of her skin and lips when she wears this cool color of taupe and this hot pink.
Before: Skin looks bumpy and blah, lips invisible
The yellows and browns in her necklace look great next to her skin, but they are overpowered by the mis-matched tone of her taupe shirt. Her lip color is muted, and her skin looks rougher, especially around the chin and on the forehead.
After: Her skin looks vibrant and more smooth, lips brighter
Now look at Tabitha in hot pink. Not only are does this hot pink shirt bring out her lips, but because it's one of her best colors, her skin look smoother. Look at how the different colors you wear bring affect the color of your lips--even when you wear the same color of lipstick or gloss. Look at how the color affects your skin--colors that are wrong for you will reveal your skin's imperfections.

Before and After: Cool Taupe and Charcoal Blue

Amanda: Before and After

This is Amanda wearing a cool taupe and a charcoal blue.

Before: Deepened shadows around her face and eyes
The undertones of her skin are warm. So when she wears this pink-based taupe, which is a cool color, she does not look her best. See how the shadows darken under her eyes? See how all the natural lines are her face deepen? And her eyes lose their luster?
After: Lightened and brightened skin and eyes

Compare Amanda in taupe to her wearing charcoal. This charcoal has some blue in it that brings out her eyes. Her face looks lighter because the color of her shirt isn't adding shadows to it. Beautiful though Amanda is, when she wears colors that match her skin undertones, then she looks her best.

When you're looking for your best colors, look for colors that brighten and lighten your face.
